At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”- Matthew 18:1
Matthew 18:2 speaks of Jesus calling a little child
and set him before them to see the child as an answer.
Jesus says take it as the truth of what I say to
you, unless you turn and repent for the old ways and become like little
children, you will NEVER see the kingdom of heaven.(Repentance+childlike)
Leave the notion of temporal kingdom of Messiah as
disciples believed it to be. Let go of enjoying the great grandeur and things
of this world. Turn from your old ways of thinking and see the filthy rags you
have become. Repent for your old ways and see the depravity of your own hearts.
Become like the little children you see around you.
How do you see a
little child as? How were you when you were of 5?
-Little children are humble with modest opinion of themselves.
-Relying on the parents for all their needs.
-Depending on them for every need.
-Looking upon them from clothes to wear to food in the tummy. What to -eat and
drink. (Matthew 6:26-34)
-Sleeping with their parents. Craving for their love. They do not envy each
other nor dominate over others. They share with each other and place themselves
in lowest form(humble, humility) without partiality between people based on
race and color.
-They are not after the fortunes of this world but after love of parents and
fulfilment in them.
-They are free from pride, ambition and envy.
Let us be like these little children of God.
Those who receive people like these little children & disciples of Jesus in
His name and account, they personally receive the Lord as He is Himself present
with them.
Turn from the old sinful ways and repent. Lord will mould you Himself into
these little children and in Him.
Always welcome those people in Jesus who are like
these little children for Jesus is personally present with them. As you
welcome them, you welcome Him.
“Whoever welcomes one of these little children in
my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one
who sent me.”- Mark 9:37
I pray that Lord mould you in His image through
Holy Spirit who was given to you(Romans 5:5). I pray you are convicted of your
own sins and witness His gracious love outpouring on all of you. The closer you
get to Christ through His words, the more sinful you are going to feel. But
don’t be disheartened for you are justified by faith through Jesus(Romans
5:2) and Lord is working in you until perfection and sanctifying you. He is in
you, with you, going ahead of You to prepare a place for You. Trust Him alone
like these little children. God bless you!
